“Thank You for Caring About These Children”

Tikva Children’s Home in Odessa, Ukraine, a Fellowship-supported children’s home, rescues hundreds of children who have been abandoned and abused. Their staff of medical professionals and teachers work with each child individually to help them learn, grow, and develop like all other children who come from loving homes. Staff members become their family, and each child knows he or she is cared for and loved. The following letter shows the difference this children’s home, and The Fellowship, makes in precious young lives.

Dear All,

Tonight is a special night.

Bentzi was one of the first boys to find a home at Tikva. Rescued from a state orphanage, where he was beaten and abused, he arrived at Tikva when he was only five years old.

He asked for just one thing: that we find his sister who is one year younger and was abandoned on the streets of Odessa, Ukraine. After searching for her, we found her freezing and abandoned and took her to our home too.

Bentzi left for Israel, studied at school, and then was drafted to the army, serving in the elite Givati Squad for the Israel Defence Forces. All the while, he kept in touch with our Tikva family, who helped him through all the ups and downs.

Tonight he is married in Jerusalem to Miriam from Kiev, Ukraine.

In state orphanages, 70 percent of children are involved with crime and 10 percent commit suicide before the age of 18.

Tikva creates success stories by giving children a future! This is because of you! Thank you! Without you, another child would have been lost. Now he lives a fruitful life in Israel.

I enclose a picture of Bentzi and Miriam tonight at their wedding. (His younger sister is also married and lives in Israel. She works as a kindergarten teacher. They are also a wonderful couple.)
