A Holy Land HanukkahFor Ariel and Cynthia, and their sons — Gabriel (14) and Emanuel (10) — Hanukkah is a time of miracles. Because for this Jewish couple from South America, making aliyah (immigrating to Israel) had long been a miracle waiting to happen. But then, right as the family prepared to move to the Holy Land with the help of IFCJ Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. But like so many other Jewish people who longed to live in their biblical homeland, this family was still able to make aliyah — just in time for Hanukkah in 2020. Gabriel and Emanuel were able to light the menorah in their people’s — God’s people’s — Promised Land, thanks to their Fellowship friends around the world. And thanks to those same friends, the family has found help in the past year — renting a place to live, finding jobs, learning Hebrew, acclimating to life in a new country — and can once again thank God for the miracle He performed, through people of faith across the globe. This Hanukkah, you can be a miracle for a Jewish child or family in need. |
