Journey Home to Israel
February 18, 2014
Dear Friends of The Fellowship,
This spring, April 30 – May 9, The Fellowship will launch our 2014 Journey Home to Israel Tour, and I’d like you to consider joining us this year. It is impossible to visit the Holy Land and not feel deeply moved by the journey. Not only will you experience 3,500 years of biblical history, but the thriving, invigorating Israel of today. And we will be delighted to show you your prayerful gifts in action as we visit some of the many Fellowship programs that are so close to our hearts.
One of the wonderful things about the Journey Home Tour is that it allows me to spend time with Fellowship friends like you. As we have in the past, during this tour my wife Joelle and I will share a traditional Jewish Sabbath meal with participants, and discuss the Jewish history and biblical themes participants have encountered in the course of the tour.
In addition, we’ll again have the chance to visit Fellowship programs, so that participants can see firsthand the lifesaving impact our partners’ generosity has on Israel and Jewish people worldwide. When you have served food to a hungry person at a Fellowship-sponsored soup kitchen in Jerusalem, or seen the smiling faces of boys and girls at a Fellowship-supported children’s home, you view the work of The Fellowship with deeper understanding.
When you come to Israel, you are truly blessed by the experience and you, in turn, are a blessing to the people of Israel. For Israelis, it is so heartening to know that we have friends who care so much in time of need, and who show their support by coming to Israel to walk the streets with us, and experience firsthand the blessings of the country God Himself called “the land flowing with milk and honey.” (Exodus 33:3)
A trip to Israel requires preparation. If you're planning to come to Israel with us you’ll need to make sure your passport is in order, to secure time off work, and make any other necessary arrangements. Because of this, and since spaces are filling up quickly, I strongly urge you to register right away.
The Fellowship’s Journey Home Tour to Israel offers a unique and unforgettable experience, one you will always hold in your heart. I hope to see you this spring in the Holy Land, as we “journey home” together.
With prayers for shalom, peace,
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein
